IASME Win Prestigious Information Security Award.

Press Release   •   May 13, 2013 06:30 BST

Judges for The Computer Weekly European User Awards for Security have awarded a member of the UK IT Association the top award for innovation in information security and IT risk management.

Proud UK IT Association member IASME have won the "Private Sector" category of these prestigious awards which aim to recognise innovation in information security and IT risk management.

The Private Sector category recognised "a European private sector organisation that has used new or innovative ways to deliver measurable business benefits through the implementation of IT. The winning project will demonstrate more than simply successful use of a new product, but instead show how IT has supported or enabled significant change and improvement for the business."

IASME's information security initiative helps small and medium-sized enterprises and the supply chain combat criminal activity and improves trust between online partners. The IASME website also offers non-technical advice to help businesses develop online security and safety.

IDC's Izard, one of the judges, commented: “The SME is often either neglected or relegated to basic and simple solutions from the big vendors, despite SMEs having similar challenges as large companies but on a smaller scale. It is very encouraging to see thought put into how to address and serve this market.”

The IASME team were honoured to have been recognised in this category. "We are really delighted by this award" said David Booth, Managing Director of IASME, "We started IASME after finding that there was no practical or affordable way for a small business to demonstrate that they were using best practice in information assurance. This award confirms that the time is right for this initiative."
